Posted by Dana Lookadoo This post was originally in YOUmoz , and was promoted to the main blog because it provides great value and interest to our community. The author’s views are entirely his or her own and may not reflect the views of SEOmoz, Inc. How do I recap the SEOmoz PRO Seminar session on Uncovering a Hidden Technique for SEO ? The title is so attractive that it produces Pavlonian symptoms as we salivate at the thought of uncovering...

Apple’s new Ping network has debuted with the most recent release of iTunes. Ping, not to be confused with social network updating service Ping.fm (or the web site Ping.com, which has nothing to do with music or social media whatsoever), is Apple’s new niche social networking service dedicated to connecting people based on their tastes in music. Ping is not a standalone web site; it comes packaged only with the software, which is...

Despite popularizing the art of reblogging (or at least convincing WordPress , Typepad and LiveJournal of its worth), crediting the original author has (more or less) been an ugly affair on Tumblr. Instead of ignoring the problem (something a few other platforms do) Tumblr has decided to skip the “requotes” and credit the original author instead. Starting today, reblogging will no longer insert attribution into the content/caption...

Today is a sad day for Vox fans. After having launched the social networking blog platform in 2006 , it looks as if the Six Apart execs are shutting down Vox at the end of the month. Vox has been a fun place to explore, create and connect with your friends. But Vox is closing its doors on September 30, 2010. This doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to your blog. We want you to make sure you can keep the great content you’ve shared on...

Twitter may be a simple 140 character micro-blogging service , but apparently 145 million users (or at least accounts) can’t get enough of the service, using 300,000 various 3rd party apps to connect with friends, family, business partners and random strangers from across the web. Those are the official numbers released this week by company CEO Evan Williams. As any follower of Twitter knows, of those 300,000 apps, Twitter has purchased...

Bio: Eugene Aronsky is an SEO specialist with NetLZ, an SEO services firm in New Jersey. There are always many criticisms on how one should write a blog for a certain website. Most will probably go to the length of sacrificing their keyword focus just to have a cute, clever and genuinely interesting blog. Even though it is important that we need to keep our blog as clever as possible so as not to bore the reader, we should…  Read More →

Facebook wants their users to have active control over where there accounts are being accessed from and for that reason the world’s largest social networking website is rolling out a new feature which allows users to see what devices and locations are accessing their accounts and then remove them as they see fit. The move is a smart one by Facebook , by doing so they can proactively fight back against spammers who steal accounts and then...

It’s been a little over a month and a half since I last sat down and wrote a blog post here, or anywhere else. It’s actually been a while since I have really been that involved in anything that has to do with blogging, as you all may have noticed. I think the obvious answer to where I’ve been is: summer. I turned 17 years old in July, and was away for about a month and a half visiting family and friends in Florida. I was working with very...

After releasing an official iPhone app in May , the folks at Twitter HG have unveiled an iPad app that may strike fear in the hearts of third party tweet developers. Twitter for iPad takes advantage of the iPad’s fluid touch interface, letting you move lots of information around smoothly and quickly – without needing to open and close windows or click buttons. When you tap a video link or open a web page with an embedded video, you can play...

Is the title box always too small for your blog posts?  Do you find yourself wishing you could add more details or catchy copy to your blog post titles?  Are you tired of adding header tags to the subheadings you create for your blog posts?  Or perhaps you just want subheadings that appear directly beneath the title of your live blog posts rather than at the top of the body copy? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above  Read More →

It’s been about a month since I posted free social media icon sources (last time I offered some fun niche blog social media icon options), and with a new school year starting, I though it might be a good time to search for some creative social media icon sets that can give your blog some back to school flair.  Check out the options below! 1. Puzzle Social Network Icon Set What grade school student doesn’t love puzzles? 2. Sewn Badge...

Posted by randfish It’s been a wild few weeks at the mozplex. Today wrapped up the amazing mozinar with our half-day tools training just in time to launch the new version of SEOmoz. Should we slow down this crazy pace? Nah. If you’re feeling a sense of deja vu, don’t worry; it’s perfectly normal. We’re the same old moz, but with a new look, faster loading pages and a surprising amount of new functionality. Let’s...

Gowalla today rolled out a new feature called ‘highlights’ and by using this feature users can now give little items to places they visit, marking them with useful icons to show off their importance. While the program offers basic items, such as “Best Cup” for cups of coffee, it also features some wacky options like “My Happy Place” and “Guilty Pleasure” along with “Celebrity Sightings”...

At the end of the day, the most basic activity a blogger must do is write. While it is true that bloggers are, with good reason, expanding more and more into video and audio, at some point every blogger is going to have to write something. It might be a description, a bio or even just an advertisement but, at some point, a every blogger is going to have to put words onto paper. But not every writer has the heart of a poet or the writing skills...
